The entry of the paan shop owner’s son in Team India, Rohit-Hardik thought it was unacceptable, Ajit Agarkar supported

The entry of the paan shop owner's son in Team India, Rohit-Hardik thought it was unacceptable, Ajit Agarkar supported

Ajit Agarkar gave a place to the paan shop owner’s son in Team India, Rohit-Hardik behaved like enemies.

Ajit Agarkar: After becoming the chief selector, Ajit Agarkar is taking big decisions in a hurry. After becoming a selector, the dream of many players to play in Team India is going to be fulfilled. Although Ishaan Kishan and Yashasvi Jaiswa have completed their West Indies tour. While some players may be completed soon in the Asian Games.

The 19th edition of the Dasasal Asian Games 2023 is scheduled to take place in Hangzhou, China, from 23rd September to 8th October. Recently, on 21st July, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the 15-member Team India for the tournament. Ajit Agarkar has included a player in the team who was previously left out by Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya.

Thanks to Ajit Agarkar’s selection, this player had a stroke of luck.

Ajit Agarkar, the selector for the Asian Games 2023, has chosen a young team to represent India in China. Among the selected players, five will be making their debut in Team India’s jersey. Interestingly, Agarkar has also provided an opportunity to players who have been overlooked during bilateral series, and fast bowler Avesh Khan is among those fortunate players to get a chance.

Ajit Agarkar has shown immense confidence in Avesh Khan, who had been inactive for an extended period, by including him in the 15-member squad for the Asian Games 2023. Avesh Khan’s cricketing journey has been filled with various challenges and successes. Interestingly, before his selection in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Avesh’s father used to run a paan shop.

This player's selection has left Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya with a sense of admiration or amazement

Indian fast bowler Avesh Khan has been out of the team since his last match against West Indies on 24th July 2022, and nearly a year has passed since then. Unfortunately, he hasn’t been given an opportunity to play under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy or during the New Zealand tour, where Hardik Pandya was also a part of the team.

The entry of the paan shop owner's son in Team India, Rohit-Hardik thought it was unacceptable, Ajit Agarkar supported

However, Avesh Khan now has a chance to make a strong case for his return to Team India by performing well in the upcoming Asian Games. His impressive performance in the tournament could catch the attention of the selectors, and there is a possibility that Ajit Agarkar might consider him for the Ireland tour as well. The Asian Games could be a crucial platform for Avesh Khan to prove his abilities and stake a claim for a spot in the national team once again.

Team India’s 15-member squad for Asian Games 2023:  Ruturaj Gaikwad (Captain), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rahul Tripathi, Tilak Verma, Rinku Singh, Jitesh Sharma (Wicketkeeper), Washington Sundar, Shahbaz Ahmed, Ravi Bishnoi, Avesh Khan, Arshdeep Singh , Mukesh Kumar, Shivam Mavi, Shivam Dubey, Prabhsimran Singh (WK)

Asia Cup 2023 schedule has been finalised, India vs Pakistan match to be held in Srilanka

Security Plan for the Upcoming India-Pakistan ICC ODI World Cup 2023 Match

Asia Cup 2023 schedule has been finalised, India vs Pakistan match to be held in Srilanka: With the BCCI stating that the Asia Cup 2023 will be contested under the hybrid concept, the way is clear for the continental event to be held in Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

According to the model, four matches would be staged in Pakistan, while the remaining nine will be played in Sri Lanka, with the tournament calendar being established during a meeting between BCCI secretary Jay Shah and Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Zaka Ashraf.

According to reports, Pakistan will play one home game against Nepal, with the other three matches taking place in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka.

All of India’s matches, including those against Pakistan, will be played in Sri Lanka.

“Our secretary met with PCB head Zaka Ashraf, and the Asia Cup schedule was finalised and is on track as previously discussed.”

“There will be four league games in Pakistan, followed by nine games in Sri Lanka, including both India versus Pakistan games and, if both teams play the final, a third game,” IPL chairman Arun Dhumal told news agency PTI.

According to the report, India may face Pakistan in Dambulla.

Meanwhile, Shah has denied suggestions that he will fly to Pakistan for the Asia Cup.

“I have made no commitments.” This is simply a case of miscommunication. Probably done on purpose or with malice. “I’m not going,” Jay Shah told News18 CricketNext on Wednesday morning.

Following India’s unwillingness to travel over the border for the Asia Cup, Pakistan’s sports minister recently stated that their men’s team ODI World Cup matches would be contested at a neutral venue.

The World Cup will be held in India beginning on October 5, with defending champions England playing on New Zealand in Ahmedabad.

“If India does not want to send its team to Pakistan for the Asia Cup, I want our World Cup matches to be played at neutral venues. If they have security problems in Pakistan, according to the Indian board, then we can question the security situation in India,” Pakistan’s Inter-Provincial Coordination (Sports) Minister Ahsan Mazari had stated.

World Cup 2023: Yuvraj Singh Highlights India’s Biggest Issue

World Cup 2023: Yuvraj Singh Highlights India's Biggest Issue

World Cup 2023: Yuvraj Singh Highlights India’s Biggest Issue: Former Indian all-rounder and World Cup hero Yuvraj Singh has spoken out regarding India’s chances of winning the forthcoming ODI World Cup 2023, saying he is “not sure, to be honest” if India would win the ODI World Cup 2023 at home.

Following a humiliating setback in the World Test Championship Final 2023, the Indian cricket team will now host the forthcoming ODI World Cup 2023 at home, hoping to win the event and end their ICC trophy drought. It should be remembered that the Indian cricket team last won an ICC trophy, the ICC Champions Trophy, in 2013, under the guidance of MS Dhoni. Since then, the Indian cricket squad has struggled.

World Cup 2023: Yuvraj Singh Highlights India's Biggest Issue

World Cup 2023: Yuvraj Singh Highlights India’s Biggest Issue

In an open interview on a YouTube channel, ‘Cricket Basu’, Yuvraj Singh voiced his disappointment. When asked about India’s chances in the World Cup 2023, he provided an honest answer. He stated:

“To be honest, I’m not sure if they’re going to win the World Cup, but I can say as a patriot that India will win. Because of injuries, I see a lot of issues in the Indian team’s middle order. It’s disappointing to see them (India) fail to win a World Cup, but that’s life.”

Furthermore, he argued that the Indian squad has been let down by team combinations. He stated:

“We have a wise captain in Rohit Sharma. They should perfect their combo. We need a couple of games to warm up. We should have a pool of at least 20 players from whom to select a squad of 15”

He stated that while the team’s top order is OK, the trouble is in the middle order, particularly at numbers 4th and 5th. He stated:

“The top order is fine, but the middle order requires attention. Slots 4 and 5 are critical. If Rishabh Pant bats fourth for his IPL team, he should bat fourth for the national team as well. The number four batsman cannot be a showy run-scorer. He must be someone who absorb the pressure.”

Yuvraj Singh also stated that India cannot be in an experimental phase when competing in critical games such as the knockout games. When asked who he thought would be the best No.4, Yuvi proposed KL Rahul and also backed Rinku Singh for the position. He stated:

“Rinku Singh was batting brilliantly. I believe he has the foresight to form a partnership and keep the strike. It’s far too early. If you desire him, you must provide him with a sufficient number of matches.”

Two Australian cricketers who have fallen short of expectations in the Ashes 2023

Two Australian cricketers who have fallen short of expectations in the Ashes 2023

Two Australian cricketers who have fallen short of expectations in the Ashes 2023: Australian cricketers have delivered some surprising performances in the Ashes 2023, most notably David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne. Both players, who are highly regarded, have disappointed in this series. Their underwhelming performances have sparked controversy among cricket fans all around the world.

David Warner

David Warner, Australia’s most experienced opener, has struggled in the Ashes 2023. A player of his stature, who has played in 17 Tests in the UK, was anticipated to score big runs. His track record, however, has been underwhelming, with only 835 runs at a depressingly low average of 26.09. This average is far from satisfactory for a player who has had numerous opportunities to demonstrate his abilities.

Two Australian cricketers who have fallen short of expectations in the Ashes 2023

In fact, Warner has had many opportunities to demonstrate his talent under English circumstances. Expectations were high for him, as this was his fourth Ashes series in the UK. But, time and again, he has failed to provide performances worthy of his reputation. The large sample size of his innings in the UK makes it difficult to ignore his consistent underperformance. Despite being a celebrated cricketer known for his massive runs, Warner’s struggles in English conditions have become a source of concern for the Australian squad. As a result, he is one of the two Australian cricketers who have failed to meet expectations in the Ashes 2023.

Marnus Labuschagne

Two Australian cricketers who have fallen short of expectations in the Ashes 2023

Marnus Labuschagne, Australia’s rising batting star, has also having a difficult time in the Ashes 2023. He has played three matches in the series so far, totaling six innings. Despite huge hopes, Labuschagne has only scored 144 runs, averaging 24. This is a far cry from his usual performance. His best score in this series is a measly 47, which is hardly impressive for a batsman of his level.

Despite being regarded as Australia’s next big thing in cricket, Labuschagne’s underwhelming performance has left fans and critics puzzled. His inability to score big and make a significant impact when it counts has been costly for Australia in this series. The young batter has clearly not lived up to the potential he had earlier in his career. As a result, he is one of the two Australian cricketers who have failed to live up to expectations in the Ashes 2023.

Two Australian cricketers who have fallen short of expectations in the Ashes 2023

David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne have had a difficult time in the Ashes 2023. The series has highlighted their shortcomings in English and prompted concerns about their capacity to perform under duress. While there is no denying their skill and past performances, the Australian team is concerned about their present form. The Ashes is a test of skill, technique, and temperament, and both players fell short this time around. They will surely strive to better their performances in the future in order to silence their critics.

Ben Stokes Breaks Former Captain MS Dhoni’s Record

Ben Stokes Breaks Former Captain MS Dhoni's Record

Ben Stokes Breaks Former Captain MS Dhoni’s Record: The third Ashes Test of 2023, which took place at Headingley, had cricket fans on the edge of their seats. Ultimately, England triumphed under the steady leadership of Ben Stokes, recording their first victory in the five-match series against Australia. Stokes’ tremendous 93-run contribution was critical to England’s triumph, allowing them to meet a difficult target of 251 runs.

But England’s victory wasn’t just any old victory. This triumph etched a new page in cricket history, as Stokes now holds the record for most victories as a captain while chasing a target of more than 250 runs in Tests. The previous holder of this record was none other than MS Dhoni, who led India to four such victories. Stokes has now eclipsed Dhoni in terms of victories, reaching a new record of five.

MS Dhoni’s record is broken by Ben Stokes

Ben Stokes Breaks Former Captain MS Dhoni's Record

Here’s the updated standings for the uninitiated:

  • Ben Stokes is ranked fifth.
  • MS Dhoni (No. 4)
  • Brian Lara and Ricky Ponting are number three.

Interestingly, Australia’s Mitchell Marsh’s century in the first innings was reduced to a footnote as England’s overall team performance triumphed over individual heroics. The thrilling game in Leeds demonstrated England’s tenacity and ability to perform under duress.

A visibly pleased Stokes underlined his delight at crossing the finish line in yet another nail-biting encounter when asked about the Headingley spectacle. The English captain praised his colleagues for their teamwork and tenacity in conquering the Australian challenge.

This triumph has given the Ashes series new life, with England now behind 2-1. Fans can expect more exciting cricket action in the next two games. As the momentum shifts in England’s favour, it will be interesting to see how Australia responds in the next matches.

In the middle of all of this, Stokes’ accomplishment is a noteworthy one. His leadership and individual talents are steering England in a positive path. However, he would be the first to confess that records are secondary to team successes. For the time being, he will concentrate on maintaining his momentum and attempting to square the series in the next Test.

Stokes has carved out a special place in cricket history with this new milestone. However, the fiery English captain would undoubtedly surrender all of his personal records for the success of his side. It will be intriguing to see what other records fall as the Ashes series progresses.

Highest Individual Score in ICC ODI World Cup History (1975-2019)

The ICC World Cup, the pinnacle of cricket championships, has seen numerous impressive performances from its players over the past five decades. The One-Day International format of the tournament offers ample opportunities for both batsmen and bowlers to exhibit their prowess. To date, we’ve witnessed staggering feats such as double centuries, seven-wicket hauls, totals exceeding 400, and partnerships worth more than 300 runs. Fans are eagerly anticipating the excitement that the upcoming 2023 ICC World Cup promises to bring.

One notable record in the Cricket World Cup is that of the highest individual score, which is held by New Zealand’s Martin Guptill, followed by Chris Gayle and Gary Kirsten. A detailed list of players who’ve achieved the highest World Cup individual scores can be found here.

Unveiling The Top Scorers in ICC World Cup History (1975-2019)

Scoring a high number of runs in the World Cup is a formidable challenge, given the extreme pressure and fierce competition. However, several batsmen have remarkably achieved this task, at times making it feel like a T20 game due to their dynamic performances. Below, let’s delve into the top 3 highest-scoring batsmen in World Cup history.

1. Martin Guptill

Martin Guptill from New Zealand has the distinction of holding the record for the highest individual score in World Cup history. In a 2015 match against the West Indies, Guptill scored a staggering 237 runs, unbeaten. He achieved this score in just 163 balls with a strike rate of 145.39, hitting 24 fours and 11 sixes. New Zealand’s total reached 393, ultimately defeating the West Indies by a margin of 143 runs.

2. Chris Gayle

Dubbed “The Universe Boss”, Chris Gayle is highly respected for his formidable batting. He’s considered the finest T20 player in cricket but has also demonstrated his batting prowess in the ODI World Cup. Gayle holds the unique record of scoring a triple century in Tests, a double century in ODIs, and a century in T20Is. In the 2015 World Cup, he scored an explosive 215 runs against Zimbabwe, the first and fastest double-century in the tournament. He achieved this score in 147 balls, hitting 10 fours and 16 sixes.

3. Gary Kirsten

Gary Kirsten, currently recognized as a successful cricket coach, was a formidable batsman in his playing days. During the 1996 World Cup, he scored a breathtaking 188 runs without losing his wicket against UAE. It took Kirsten 159 balls to achieve this feat, during which he struck 13 fours and 4 sixes, leading South Africa to a victory by 169 runs.

4. Sourav Ganguly

Sourav Ganguly, a legendary figure in Indian cricket and affectionately known as the ‘Prince of Kolkata’, has left an indelible mark in the annals of World Cup history with his exceptional individual score.

Ganguly’s extraordinary innings took place during the 2003 World Cup clash between India and Sri Lanka. Operating as an elegant left-handed opening batsman, renowned for his mastery of the off-side, Ganguly delivered a truly monumental performance, accumulating an impressive 183 runs from a mere 158 balls. Throughout this unforgettable display, he struck an impressive total of 17 fours and 7 sixes. Ganguly’s blend of aggression and calculated shot selection proved devastating for the Sri Lankan bowling unit, and his monumental score remained the highest by an Indian in the World Cup until Rohit Sharma surpassed it in 2019.

This innings stands as a defining moment in Ganguly’s illustrious career and played an instrumental role in propelling India towards the finals of the 2003 World Cup. The memory of his exceptional leadership as captain and his remarkable batting displays during the tournament continues to resonate with cricket enthusiasts worldwide.

Joe Root Claims Top Position in ICC Men’s Test Batting Ranking After Ashes 2023

In the latest update of the ICC Men’s Test Batting Ranking, Joe Root has dethroned Marnus Labuschagne to secure the No.1 position following an outstanding performance in the first Ashes Test match of 2023. Root’s remarkable display in the match, held at Edgbaston, showcased his batting prowess as he scored a century in the first innings with 118 runs and contributed 46 runs in the second innings. This exceptional performance has propelled him to the top spot in the ICC Test Batting Ranking.

Root’s proficiency is not limited to his batting skills alone. He also showcased his versatility by taking a wicket, which has earned him the sixth position in the ICC Test All-rounders Ranking.

Labuschagne, who had held the top spot for the past six months, faltered during the Ashes series and failed to deliver notable performances. Scoring 0 and 13 runs in the first Test match, his struggles extended to the WTC Final 2023 against India, where he managed scores of 26 and 41 runs.

The dominance of Australian batters in the ICC Test Batting Ranking has taken a hit with this update. Labuschagne has now slipped to the third position, while Steve Smith and Travis Head have dropped to fourth and sixth positions, respectively.

Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja have retained their top spots in the ICC Test Bowling and All-rounders Ranking, respectively.

Labuschagne’s earlier tremendous form had propelled him to the top position, but his recent struggles have resulted in him slipping to third place. Meanwhile, New Zealand’s captain, Kane Williamson, has moved up to the second position in the ICC Test Batting Ranking. Unfortunately, Williamson is currently recuperating from a knee injury and is expected to be out of cricket for the next four to five months.
