Throughout the 16 editions of the Indian Premier League (IPL), numerous elite batters have emerged as dominant forces on the charts.

A select few elite batters have produced mesmerizing run-scoring streaks that have single-handedly propelled their teams to victory.

Shubman Gill has scored his third century of the IPL 2023 season while playing for GT against MI. He has now accumulated over 800 runs and is currently leading the Orange Cap race.

The IPL 2016 season witnessed Virat Kohli, the former captain of India and Royal Challengers Bangalore, achieving the highest aggregate by any batter in that particular edition. Kohli accumulated 973 runs in 16 matches, including four centuries and seven fifties, while playing for RCB, which finished as the runner-up.

Jos Buttler, the captain of England’s white-ball team, secured the second spot on the list by scoring four centuries for Rajasthan Royals during the IPL 2022 season. He amassed a total of 863 runs during this period. In the 2016 season, David Warner accumulated a total of 848 runs while captaining the Sunrisers Hyderabad to their first-ever title victory against RCB.

During the Qualifier 2 match against Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2023 season, Shubman Gill, the opener for Gujarat Titans, achieved the milestone of crossing the 800-run mark, making him the fourth overall and second Indian to do so. The individual known as Gill achieved their third century of the Indian Premier League season, joining Kohli as the only other Indian to accomplish three or more centuries in a single IPL season.

A total of 129 runs were scored by Gill in 60 balls, including seven fours and 10 sixes. The individual score achieved by him in an IPL Playoffs match has exceeded Virender Sehwag’s record of 122 for PBKS in 2014.

Most IPL centuries in one season by a player

The ongoing IPL 2023 season has observed the highest number of 200+ totals in comparison to the previous 16 seasons of the league. The run-rates at which teams have scored this year are also the highest among all the preceding seasons.

The current season of IPL has witnessed a significant number of batting records being surpassed, and it is likely that another record may be broken for the highest number of IPL centuries in a single season.

Most IPL centuries in one season by a player

The players who have achieved the highest number of four centuries in a single season are Virat Kohli during the 2016 season, Jos Buttler during the 2022 edition, and Shubman Gill during the 2023 edition.

Five players, namely Chris Gayle, Hashim Amla, Shane Watson, Shikhar Dhawan, and KL Rahul, have each scored two centuries in a specific season.

Kohli had a great run with the bat, scoring 973 runs in 16 matches at a strike rate of 152.03 and an average of 81.08. Kohli’s 973 runs are still the most runs scored in a single IPL season.

Jos Buttler (2022): 4 centuries

England’s limited-overs skipper Buttler was in red-hot form in the 2022 IPL season. Buttler almost single-handedly took RR to their second IPL final. Buttler accumulated 4 centuries last season and equalled Kohli’s tally of 2016. In 17 matches, Buttler scored 863 runs at a strike rate of 149.05.

Shubman Gill (2023): 3 centuries

IPL Prize Money Winners from 2008 to 2023: The Indian Premier League (IPL) has experienced significant expansion since its inception in 2008, becoming one of the most prestigious and lucrative cricket leagues globally.

The establishment of the T20 World Cup followed India’s triumph in the first edition of the tournament in 2007. The value of IPL has witnessed a significant surge of around Rs 91,000 crores in 2023, primarily due to the formation of new partnerships and media rights agreements.

BCCI officials have conveyed their intention to augment the prize money for the IPL by 20 to 25 percent. The IPL possesses a prize pool of 46.5 crores, and the champions of the IPL 2023 campaign are slated to obtain Rs 20 crores. A sum of Rs 13 crores will be granted to the team securing the second position, whereas Rs 7 crores each will be rewarded to the two teams qualifying for the playoffs.

The substantial prize amounts offered in the tournament enhance the competitive nature of the event and provide added incentive for the teams, intensifying the excitement and fervor of the IPL.

CHENNAI SUPER KINGS BOOK A PLACE IN THEIR TENTH IPL FINAL: IPL 2023 FINAL

CSK has advanced to the Finals by defeating Gujarat in Qualifier 1 with a 15-run victory. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway achieved scores of 60 and 40 runs, respectively, with a strike rate of 136.36 and 117.65. Two wickets were taken by Deepak Chahar and Ravindra Jadeja, with 29 and 18 runs conceded, respectively.

The batters of GT were unable to overcome the formidable spin attack of CSK at MA Chidambaram Stadium. Shubman Gill attempted to produce a substantial performance, but was dismissed after accumulating a total of 42 runs. The bowlers from Gujarat exhibited commendable performances, with Mohit Sharma and Mohd. Shami securing two wickets each.

The outcome of the match was influenced by Gujarat’s batting performance. During the second inning, Chennai’s bowlers demonstrated excellent control, resulting in a sluggish start for Gujarat. However, Shubman Gill’s exceptional performance was noteworthy, while the remaining Gujarat batters lost their wickets due to incorrect shot selection.

During the 14th over, Shubman was dismissed while executing a pull shot. He accumulated a total of 42 runs in 38 deliveries, including four boundaries and one six. Following the dismissal of a player, CSK exhibited a commanding performance.

However, during the final overs, Rashid Khan and Vijay Shankar made a concerted effort to secure a victory, resulting in a partnership of 38 runs. The Gujarat bowlers conceded a marginally higher number of runs during the powerplay. However, their spinners exhibited dominance over the game by delivering an impressive performance during the middle overs. Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmed claimed one wicket each and restricted the opposition to 37 and 29 runs respectively, during their four-over spell.

In the recent match, Mohit Sharma and Mohd. Shami both contributed to their team’s success. Mohit Sharma took two wickets, while Mohd. Shami also took two wickets and maintained an economy rate of 7.00.

What is the Impact Player Rule announced for IPL 2023?

The IPL’s upcoming 2023 season incorporates a novel regulation known as the impact player rule. Per this regulation, a substitution is permitted for each team to replace a player from the XI currently playing. Requesting further information regarding the impact player rule.

IPL 2023: What is the Impact Player Rule?

The Indian Premier League (IPL), the largest cricket league globally, commenced on March 31st, 2023. The upcoming 16th edition of the Premier League will feature a total of 10 teams, similar to the previous year. These teams will comprise of elite cricket players hailing from different parts of the globe, who will compete against each other to secure the championship trophy.

IPL 2023 features some alterations. New regulations for the IPL 2023 have been implemented by the BCCI and ICC. The regulations in question are not novel; they have previously been in place in global cricket. Nevertheless, this marks the initial implementation of said regulations in the Indian Premier League, which had its inception in 2008.

The “Impact Player Rule” is a newly implemented regulation. This article will analyse the Impact Player Rule and its effects on the league and teams.

What is the Impact Player Rule?

The impact player rule permits teams to designate up to five substitute players, in addition to their playing XI, subsequent to the toss. At any given point in the game, the Impact Player has the capability to substitute a member of the playing XI. The implementation and verification of this rule have been observed in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, after adopting it from the Australian Big Bash League. The regulation allows for the replacement of a player during the game if it would be advantageous to the circumstances and playing conditions of the match.

The updated regulation empowers teams to finalise their playing XI subsequent to the toss, thereby eliminating the impact of the toss result. Elimination of the requirement for team captains to furnish team sheets during the toss. The current regulations permit the selection of five players as substitutes, with the option of designating one as the impact player. Furthermore, any delay in over-rates by fielding teams will result in penalties at each over, thereby increasing the urgency for them to maintain a swift pace of play. The utilisation of the Impact Player as a means to circumvent the restriction on the quantity of non-domestic athletes permitted to participate in a game is not a viable option for teams. In the event that a team has already included four foreign players, it is mandatory for the impact player to be of Indian nationality. In the event that a team possesses less than four foreign players, they possess the option to designate a foreigner as their impact player.

In the season’s first match, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Gujarat Titans (GT) faced off, with both teams deploying an impact player. The match’s result was influenced by this decision, as GT emerged victorious by 5 wickets over the four-time champions CSK.
